My Story Part 1
Hi Everyone
My name is Crystal and I am Intersex.
As many people already knows as I am always very public and willing to share my journey.
I am starting this blog to talk about Intersex issues and my own personal journey.
I was born on the 09 November 198........😀 and was born with typical female genitalia. And at this point there was no way of doctors being able to figure out I’m “different” as there was no indication.
The plot thickens.......
I was diagnosed with Complete Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome when I was about 16 years old. As a young lady when I was suppose to go through puberty my menstrual cycle never started and I also had slow breast growth. Upon visiting the doctor I was referred to hospital, where they did tons of scans and sonar, At than point Doctors informed my mother that I have no womb or Fallopian tubes, however I have “underdeveloped ovaries”. Doctors advised my mom that it’s best to remove the ovaries as they have a risk to become cancerous and I will be placed on hormone replacement for the rest of my life.
My mother agreed to the surgery and they were removed, as my mom believed this was the best process to follow
After several years I started to google all my symptoms and just the way I’m different from other people. At age 22 I visited a private doctor who than told me about my “syndrome” and informed me I didn’t have ovaries removed but it was gonads “internal testes”
This was very shocking as I than researched that the surgery I had was very unnecessary as there is no proven test that having internal testes could result in cancer. The fact that my mom was lied to about my condition also hurt me a lot, and the fact that I have to use hormone replacement where my body was producing what I required.
I think for now this concludes part one and I will share more of my story and how I’ve come to terms with accepting my “condition”
